Duolingo English Test Coaching – Global Overseas

The Duolingo English Test is a modern, convenient, and affordable English proficiency exam accepted by thousands of universities worldwide. Unlike traditional English tests, Duolingo can be taken online anytime, anywhere — all you need is a computer, a webcam, and a reliable internet connection.

Designed to evaluate your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, the test uses advanced AI technology to provide a fair and accurate measure of your English proficiency level.

Why Choose the Duolingo English Test?

The test lasts about 1 hour and includes three main sections:

1. Introduction & Setup (5 minutes)

Verify your identity and ensure your equipment meets test requirements.

2. Adaptive Test (45 minutes)

Measures:

  • Reading: Understand written English through short passages.

  • Listening: Identify spoken English in conversations or sentences.

  • Writing: Write responses to questions and prompts.

  • Speaking: Record answers and express ideas verbally.

3. Video Interview & Writing Sample (10 minutes)

You’ll respond to open-ended questions, allowing universities to see your real communication skills.

Duolingo English Test Exam Pattern

The Duolingo English Test (DET) is a one-hour online test that evaluates your overall English proficiency through Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. The test is adaptive, meaning the difficulty level adjusts automatically based on your answers.

It consists of three main sections:

1. Introduction & Setup (5 minutes)

  • Verify your identity with a valid ID.

  • Check your camera, microphone, and internet connection.

  • Review the test rules.

(This section does not affect your score.)

2. Adaptive Test (45 minutes)

The main test evaluates your English skills through short, interactive question types such as:

  • Reading and completing sentences

  • Listening and selecting correct words

  • Speaking and writing responses

  • Describing images or answering prompts

It includes mixed question types, so reading, writing, listening, and speaking appear in random order.

3. Video Interview & Writing Sample (10 minutes)

  • Respond to one written prompt (3–5 minutes).

  • Record one spoken response (1–3 minutes).
These are not scored but are sent to universities along with your results.

Duolingo English Test Syllabus

The Duolingo English Test (DET) syllabus is designed to measure your real-world English communication skills — reading, writing, listening, and speaking — through short, interactive question types.

Unlike traditional exams, Duolingo doesn’t have fixed sections. Instead, all skills are mixed together throughout the adaptive test.

1. Reading Skills

This part evaluates your ability to understand written English, recognize vocabulary, and interpret meaning from short texts.

Question Types:

  • Read and Complete: Fill in missing letters in a passage to form meaningful words.

  • Read and Select: Choose actual English words from a list of real and fake words.

  • Read and Write: Read a prompt and type a meaningful written response.

  • Read Aloud: Read a sentence on screen and speak it clearly.

2. Listening Skills

Measures your ability to identify correct pronunciation, understand spoken English, and respond to audio cues.

Question Types:

  • Listen and Select: Choose correct English words after listening to short audio clips.

  • Listen and Type: Type exactly what you hear in the recording.

  • Listen and Respond: Answer short spoken prompts.

3. Writing Skills

Assesses grammar, vocabulary, and your ability to express ideas clearly in written English.

Question Types:

  • Write About the Photo: Describe an image in a few sentences.

  • Write About the Topic: Respond to a written prompt (short essay format).

  • Writing Sample: Provide a detailed written response (shared with universities).

4. Speaking Skills

Evaluates pronunciation, fluency, and your ability to express thoughts verbally.

Question Types:

  • Speak About the Photo: Describe what you see in an image.

  • Speak About the Topic: Respond to a question or opinion-based topic.

  • Video Interview: Record a response to an open-ended prompt.

5. Integrated Skills

Many Duolingo questions test multiple skills together — for example:

  • Listening + Writing (typing what you hear)

  • Reading + Speaking (reading sentences aloud)

  • Writing + Speaking (responding to prompts)
